The Vessel Lux Stand Bag is lightweight, made of high quality materials for longevity, and packaged in a luxury shell with every detail accounted for.
Introduction
Vessel has cemented itself as the gold standard for luxury bags. They are recognizable on just about every major professional golf tour. Some may not be as noticeable as others depending on the amount of sponsors on a bag, but the point is that Vessel is used by the best players in the world. Whether you’re contending for a spot on the USA Ryder Cup team – Vessel is their official bag – or just trying to win a bet from your buddies, the Vessel Lux Stand Bag is a bag you should be considering, too.
Looks
As soon as I got the Vessel Lux Stand Bag out of the bag, the quality was evident. The deep forest green color and high end stitching give an elevated look synonymous with the brand. Each touch point and zipper pull is wrapped in hand stitched leather with chrome plated accents that scream premium.
From the top, the dividers are lined with velour material while the outer edges are padded with more leather which not only protect clubs but also adds to the premium style. From the front, there are four zippered pockets, a magnetic pocket, and two hidden bottle holders on either side.
The rear has carbon fiber stand legs that add a stylish flare to the bag with an adjacent umbrella sleeve. Ultimately, the name of the game is attention to detail. Down to the smallest rivet, Vessel ensures that every part of your bag has been styled to match the luxury name.
Features
While most bags in the luxury segment have a baseline of similar features, the Vessel Lux Stand Bag takes it one step further to separate itself from the competition. Let me start with the four way dividers. As I mentioned above, the top is lined with both velour material and leather around the trim. Vessel added a new “jam resistant” club separator to their full length dividers at the base of the bag. While you can’t easily see this feature, it keeps clubs from all falling to one side at the base of the bag, particularly when the stand legs are deployed.
Another feature worth covering is the internal security pocket which is just inside the large garment zipper pocket. While it isn’t new for Vessel this year, every Vessel Lux Stand Bag comes with a lock for storing away those valuable items like cash, jewelry, or designer sunglasses. My first round out, I stopped and went inside to the grill at the turn and it was comforting knowing my valuables were well secured inside my bag.
One last feature that I particularly enjoyed is the double drink holsters. These holsters flank the lower front ball pocket and when not in use, you would never even know they are there as both magnetically attach to the side. Each opens to carry an oversized bottle like a personal Yeti or sports drink. It could also handle any type of canned beverage with its stretch material.
Performance
Whenever someone asks me about Vessel bags, I always point out that Vessel uses premium materials and processes that not only make it visually stunning but also requires a premium price. “You get what you pay for” certainly can be applied when it comes to Vessel bags. One example is the valuables pocket on the right hand side of the Vessel Lux Stand Bag. This pocket is not only velour lined but the zipper pull is a six inch, hand stitched leather loop with a small chrome bracket with a Vessel logo embossed at the top. This level of detail is seen with each part of the Vessel Lux Stand Bag.
If you have read any of my previous reviews, you know I am a proud push cart user and rarely carry. However, since this Vessel Lux Stand Bag comes in at just under six pounds, I had give it a go and carry for a few rounds. On the course, the Equilibrium 2.0 swivel double shoulder strap made picking up and setting down the bag intuitive. It also prevented the bag from being top heavy and tipping out loose clubs. While I preferred using the double shoulder strap even when not walking, each bag comes with an alternate single strap option. Vessel even provides a matching cart strap for those days when walking just isn’t the move.
Whether I was walking nine holes or just practicing, I regularly utilized the all flat base to stand the bag upright without the fear of falling over. It is a feature that is often overlooked and was beneficial in certain terrain, especially near the green where using the legs may have put the bag in an awkward position. No matter how the bag was positioned, the full length dividers made it easy to pull a club without it getting tangled on other clubs. It also made me realize that the top grab handle not only prevents club damage, it widens the rear opening.
The Vessel Lux Stand Bag is $399 and comes in black, white, navy, grey, and green, which is pictured in this review. Vessel also offers this bag in a few special edition styles for about $30 more. Each bag comes with both a double strap and single strap, cart strap sleeve, and matching rain hood.
Conclusion
Vessel continues to impress with their latest stand bags, highlighting their commitment to high quality and aesthetically pleasing looks. At under six pounds, the Vessel Lux Stand Bag provides premium materials that make it easy to walk or use on a push cart. Whether you’re looking for a stand bag with ideal storage pockets or just want a stylish bag to impress your foursome, you’ll find it in the Vessel Lux Stand Bag.
