Miyu Yamashita started the day with a three-shot lead and fired two birdies and four bogeys to close with a 2-over 74 on Saturday. She retains a one-shot lead at 9-under ahead of the final day at the AIG Women’s Open.
“The winds are really strong so that’s something where club selection becomes quite difficult. That’s something which I’m going to be focused on tomorrow, something I can draw on the experience in Muirfield and improve on tomorrow,” said the Japanese player.
This is the first time in her career Yamashita has held the 36- and 54-hole lead at any event.
Korean A Lim Kim carded a bogey-free 67 to move into second place at 8-under. This is her best position going into the final round of the AIG Women’s Open where she is playing in her fifth start with a career-best finish of T13.
American Andrea Lee made two bogeys and tied her career-best 18-hole score at the AIG Women’s Open with a 67 to move into third place at 7-under.
Rolex Rankings No. 1 Nelly Korda of the USA carded a third-round 74 having made two birdies and four bogeys and is even-par heading into Sunday at T36.
Defending Champion Lydia Ko of New Zealand ended her day 2-under and even par through 54 holes.
